PIT LANE STORY: Formula 1 teams got to work and started setting up at Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne on Monday (March 20), for first race of the 2017 season. Pit crews began to unpack over 200 tonnes of sea freight and 700 tonnes of air freight, in what is being seen as a new era in Formula 1 racing. The sport is under new ownership, with Liberty Media taking over and former commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone sidelined. The sport has a new look, with fatter tyres and wider cars that also look more aggressive. That has seen lap times slashed, with drivers able to make corners flat out even if cars are a little slower on the straights. Whether they can overtake any more easily remains an open question, with the more durable tyres likely to lead to fewer pitstops. The championship starts on March 26.
