With the Syrian flag held close to their hearts, hundreds of Chileans are hoping to send a message to their government. They want to help more Syrians... and faster. These Chileans marched through Santiago on Saturday, carrying posters of victims of Syria's six-year-old war. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) PAMELA MORAGA, CHILEAN ACTIVIST, SAYING: "So many children are suffering in the country (referring to Syrian), not just children but entire families ." They're asking their government to welcome more Syrian refugees and expedite the visa process. Chile has taken in close to 250 refugees, but many arrive without proper refugee status, complicating their integration into society. In front of Chile's presidential palace, the group held a mock funeral to honor the victims, who now number in the hundreds of thousands. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) MARTA NAZARALA, CHILEAN WOMAN DESCENDANT OF SYRIANS, SAYING: "We have to open up our borders to receive them, and do everything possible for the largest number of refugees who are in such a difficult situation." A difficult situation in which these Chileans hope they can help, one refugee at a time.
