ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Speaking at a news conference following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says claims that Russia meddled in the U.S. election are absurd. Calling it 'fake information,' Lavrov said there is no proof that Moscow had a hand in the 2016 presidential election. Trump's meeting with Sergei Lavrov was the highest-level public contact between Trump and the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin since Trump took office on Jan. 20. Trump stunned the United States on Tuesday by firing FBI Director James Comey, whose agency is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and the possibility Trump associates may have colluded with Moscow. Russia denies the allegations.
