Siver, aged 36, and his support team chose Mount Rishiri Island in northern Japan where they spent eight days filming his attempt. Each day involved Siver hiking to the summit of the 1,721-metre high peak carrying his windsurf board in temperatures as low as minus 13 degrees Celsius. Siver needed to wait at the summit for winds that were less than 15km/ph, sometimes for up to three hours to ensure that he had the right conditions. Apart from the occasional tumble, Siver emerged unscathed from his adventure and successfully achieved his aim of windsurfing on snow.
