New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is taking heat...for taking heat. Christie was seen relaxing at Island Beach State Park Sunday..even though it was closed to everyone else amid the government shutdown. Christie was defensive when asked about it at a news conference.... (SOUNDBITE) NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE SAYING: "No, I didn't get any sun today There are no lifeguards, there's no one to pick up the garbage, there's no one providing any services at Island Beach State Park. Next. Next. Excuse me, next! Next, I'm done. We're talking about the closure of government and you're talking about your TMZ stuff…" New Jersey's government shut down Friday night after Christie and state lawmakers failed to pass a budget… Essential services like the New Jersey Transit continued to operate, but non-essential state services, which include more than 50 state parks and recreational areas were closed for the extended Fourth of July weekend… Christie said on Sunday he was planning to head back to his official beach home by a state helicopter… (SOUNDBITE) NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE SAYING: "Yeah, that's where my family is sleeping. That's where I'll sleep tonight. When I have a choice between sleeping with my family or sleeping alone, I generally like to sleep with where my family is." The shutdown is the result of a deadlock prompted by a plan, backed by Christie, to take money from state's biggest health insurance company to fund drug addiction services… Assembly Speaker and Democrat Vincent Prieto says the plan is a bad public policy and should not be considered until after a budget is passed… Christie has ordered state lawmakers to return in hopes of making a deal to reopen the government… and the beaches in time for July the Fourth...so residents and tourists can enjoy them, just like the governor.
