Los Angeles mayor Garcetti says his city is bidding for the 2024 Olympics as IOC ponders 2024 and 2028 venues.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI SAYING: "We look forward to working together, maybe not in competition but in collaboration, with Paris. To be clear, we are competing for 2024. The rules may change today and we're happy to answer those questions afterwards but in the meantime we want to show our strength. LA is ready to throw these Olympics in two months, if we were asked, or two decades if it came to that. LA is ready because we have the infrastructure, the love and the vision to make sure it's something that serves this movement and serves the people of our city." 2. WHITE FLASH 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LOS ANGELES BID CHIEF EXECUTIVE CASEY WASSERMAN SAYING: "LA 2024 is offering a city ready to go, where almost 80 percent of us want the games back in 2024. We're offering a games with no incremental costs and we're offering a lasting definition of Olympic sustainability." STORY: Los Angeles is aiming its Olympic bid firmly at the 2024 summer games, city mayor Eric Garcetti said on Tuesday (July 11). LA and Paris are competing to stage the 2024 and 2028 games in presentations to the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland. The IOC is expected to ratify an executive board recommendation to award both Games at the same time, ensuring both candidates host one Games. French President Emmanuel Macron is spearheading the Paris bid.
