The Premier League club made the announcement on Monday (July 10), the same day that the Belgium striker joined his teammates for practice in Los Angeles ahead of their July 15 game against the LA Galaxy. British media reported that the fee for the 24-year-old is about 75 million pounds ($97 million), making him the Old Trafford club's second most expensive signing after last year's world-record deal for France midfielder Paul Pogba. Lukaku scored 25 league goals in 37 matches for Everton in the last campaign, four behind Tottenham Hotspur's Golden Boot-winner Harry Kane.
