VIDEO SHOWS: LIVERPOOL COACH JUERGEN KLOPP TALKING ABOUT WIN AGAINST HOFFENHEIM SHOWS: SINSHEIM, GERMANY (AUGUST 15, 2017) (REUTERS - ACCESS ALL) 1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL COACH JUERGEN KLOPP, EXPLAINING WHY 18-YEAR-OLD TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD TOOK FREE KICK WHICH GAVE LIVERPOOL THEIR FIRST GOAL, SAYING: "That was actually because I told him he has got to do it. So I don't want to have the credit for the free kick, because he is the only one who can. Yeah, he can shoot free kicks better than I ever could but... I have said it a few times because I watched as many under-23 games as I could and the goal has a similar size, by the way, or the same. Maybe the wall is a little bit smaller or not that tall, but he is good in this." 2. WHITE FLASH 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL COACH JUERGEN KLOPP, SPEAKING ABOUT HOFFENHEIM SCORING LATE IN THE GAME, SAYING: " I think they deserved a goal, over the 90 minutes with all the effort they did. But I also thought that we played defensively really well because we, and how I saw it, and that was actually the plan to let them play in the spaces that are for us not dangerous and not that interesting. They have a specific style of play, which is very good to be honest and really difficult to defend. So I thought we did really well." STORY: Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said there was a simple explanation for teenager Trent Alexander-Arnold stepping up to take a free kick on his European debut. "That was actually because I told him he has got to do it," said Klopp who had seen the 18-year-old taking free kicks for the under-23 squad in the past. Alexander-Arnold, who made his Premier League debut in December, curled in a magnificent free kick to help Liverpool to a 2-1 win at Hoffenheim. The win on Tuesday (August 15) puts them on the brink of Champions League group stage place. The second leg of their Champions League play-off will be on August 23 when Liverpool host Hoffenheim at Anfield. Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet saved an early penalty, and then Alexander-Arnold curled the ball through a gap in the Hoffenheim wall 10 minutes before halftime. James Milner's shot was deflected into his own net by Havard Nordtveit for the English Premier League side's second goal in the 77th minute of an end-to-end match. Mark Uth pulled one back with three minutes left, chesting the ball down and drilling a low shot into the corner of the net, and Hoffenheim should have equalised in stoppage time but Benjamin Huebner sent a free header over the bar. Klopp said he thought Hoffenheim deserved their solitary goal but he praised his team for their defending as he said Hoffenheim's style of play made defence difficult.
