SHOWS: FRANKFURT, GERMANY (SEPTEMBER 12, 2017) (MERCEDES-BENZ HANDOUT -ACCESS ALL) 1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMULA ONE DRIVER, LEWIS HAMILTON, SAYING/OVERLAPSING WITH WIDE SHOTS "It is incredible. I am so happy to be here, to be a part of Mercedes, the journey. I ahve been with Mercedes since I was 13 so I am 32 today. It has been a long long partnership and to see this come to realisation, you know? I have been talking for ages with Mercedes about a hypercar, a real, top of the line hypercar and bringing some of the F1 technology, and finally you've done it, so I applaud you, Dieter, for doing it. this has the engine that I won the 2015 Worldchampionship with so it feels a bit like it is my baby as well." 2. WHITE FLASH 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMULA ONE DRIVER, LEWIS HAMILTON, SAYING: "It has been a long, long year and a lot of work. There is over a thousand people in our team, so to prepare every weekend, weekend in, weekend out and fight the Ferraris who have been obviously very competitive through the year has been a massive challenge. So to finally go to the last two races in Spa and Monza and overhaul them and I will be in the lead in both the constructors and the driver's championship. Super exciting. We still have seven races to go so it is still a long way and we are going to work as hard as we can. This weekend will be tough." STORY: Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche and three-times F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton unveiled on Tuesday (September 12) what they described as "a Formula One car for public roads": the company's new Project One hyper car. "I have been talking for ages with Mercedes about a hypercar, a real, top of the line hypercar and bringing some of the F1 technology, and finally you've done it, so I applaud you, Dieter, for doing it. this has the engine that I won the 2015 Worldchampionship with so it feels a bit like it is my baby as well," said Hamilton, who took the F1 championship lead for the first time this season with a dominant victory in the Italian Grand Prix, after driving the car onto stage at Frankfurt's IAA motor show. The engine can rev up to 11,000 rpm - a few thousand short of the F1 car, and the car also has four electric motors in total. Zetsche announced Mercedes-Benz will offer at least 50 electrified versions of its passenger cars in hybrid and fully electric car variants.
