The holidays are key for Toys "R" Us' survival, and the toy retailer is capitalizing on it. It said it'll hire part-time workers to staff its stores for the holidays. It didn't say just how many it'll add to its payrolls nationwide. But in some of the largest states, its announced openings for seasonal jobs exceeding 12,000. The company itself employs 64,000 people. One unusual job opening: toy demonstrator. That job entails unboxing, playing with toys, and allowing kids to play with them. Other positions available: cashiers, and associates for sales, stocking, and fulfilling orders. Toys "R" Us says its biggest need is New York City, where it'll run a temporary pop-up store two years after it closed its huge Times Square store. It plans to hire more than 3800 people in the city. The retailer filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday after some vendors stopped shipping to them. It has since secured bankruptcy financing, putting those worries to rest for now.
