Hundreds of people gathered in front of Apple's flagship store in Manhattan to snatch the new iPhone 8. New York resident Georgia Connick was one of them. (SOUNDBITE) GEORGIA CONNICK, NEW YORK RESIDENT, (ENGLISH) SAYING: "I get the iPhone every time, so, I'm here in line, like I usually am. I love Apple and all their electronics, so. I'm really excited." But the lines weren't as long as during previous iPhone launches. Some fans opted for online purchases. Others held out for the premium iPhone X due out in early November. Analysts say iPhone 8 is just an upgrade of iPhone 7. iPhone X comes with some new features, such as a glass and stainless steel design and an edge-to-edge display. The price also differs. iPhone 8 costs $700. iPhone X customers will have to shell out around $1000. Forrester's Michael Facemire: (SOUNDBITE) MICHAEL FACEMIRE, VICE PRESIDENT, PRINCIPAL ANALYST, FORRESTER (ENGLISH) SAYING: "It's almost as if Apple was running a test that says 'can we get away with having a $1000 dollar phone, or are folks still commited to more $600 to $700 range with existing features?' And I will be really curious to see when the number come out. My guess is, there will be a lot longer lines, a lot more excitement in an early Novemebr date or actually, October 26th, when you preorder, and in early November for the regular announcement of the iPhone X." Apple shares have been falling since the company's iPhone 8 and iPhone X launch event on September 11th. Apple has lost over $50 billion in market cap in the past eleven days.
