ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Masculine looks with feminine twists dominated the catwalk at the Prada Spring/Summer 2018 show on Thursday (September 22). Models, including model of the moment Kaia Gerber, walked the runway in dark colours and long, sleeveless double-breasted jackets. Femininity peered from below, with striped blouses, damasqued fabrics and kitten-heeled shoes. Like many of Prada's collections, Spring/Summer 2018 focused on women's empowerment, with creative director Miuccia Prada seeking to convey strength and combativeness through her designs. The clothes, all initially created in white and then overprinted at the end of the process, were paraded in an industrial space. The walls of the venue were covered in comic strip art representing female characters, a source of inspiration for the famed Italian designer. The characters of the graphic novels seeped into the clothes, too, their faces on the backs of long brown coats and parts of the comic strips printed on jackets, shirts and leather handbags.
