Argentina issues $950 mln in treasury notes -ministry

BUENOS AIRES, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Argentina sold $950 million in dollar-denominated 217-day Treasury notes on Tuesday, with an annual interest rate of 4.75 percent, the Treasury Ministry announced.

The bonds, known as “Letes,” will mature in August this year. They are used to take pressure off the exchange rate in times of recession and high inflation. (Reporting by Jorge Otaoloa; writing by Cassandra Garrison)
