Argentine peso closes 15.27% weaker at 53.5 per U.S. dollar -traders

BUENOS AIRES, Aug 12 (Reuters) - The Argentine peso closed 15.27% weaker at 53.5 per U.S. dollar after hitting a record low of 65 per U.S. dollar earlier in the day, traders said.

The peso crashed following a major upset by the opposition candidate in Sunday’s presidential primary vote.
