Australia shares to open lower, NZ slips

Aug 25 (Reuters) - Australian shares are likely to open
slightly lower on Friday, tracking a dip on Wall Street as
investors remained cautious ahead of comments on monetary policy
from central bankers gathered for their annual meeting in
Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
While energy stocks may take a hit after a fall in oil
prices, miners are expected to provide the index some support,
backed by strong metal prices.
The local share price index futures fell 0.1
percent or 4 points to 5,708, a 37.5-point discount to the
underlying S&P/ASX 200 index close. The benchmark fell
0.2 percent on Thursday.
    New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index fell 0.1
percent or 6.34 points to 7,862.07 at 2209 GMT.
