VILNIUS, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Belarus is not allowing passenger vehicles from Lithuania into its territory on Thursday, saying this is due to the novel coronavirus, Lithuania’s Interior Minister spokeswoman Bozena Zaborovska told Reuters.
“The trucks are still coming though, as are cars from Belarus to Lithuania”, she said.
On Sept. 17 Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko, dogged by weeks of protests over a disputed election, said that Belarus needed to close its borders with Poland and Lithuania, but did not follow through on the threat. (Reporting By Andrius Sytas; editing by Niklas Pollard)
