FACTBOX-Brazil's nascent corn ethanol industry

    CUIABA, Brazil, Dec 18 (Reuters) - In just two years, the
Brazilian grains belt has seen surging interest from the
corn-based ethanol industry, including new plans from major
grain traders and energy groups.            
    Brazil's Mato Grosso state, the country's top grains
producer, is home to most projects, followed by the neighboring
state of Goiás. 
    Most of the new plants use both corn and sugarcane to
produce the biofuel, allowing them to operate for more of the
year and gain energy efficiency by burning cane waste.
