Sept 5 (Reuters) - Taiwan said on Tuesday it had appointed Wellington Koo as the new chief of the Financial Supervisory Commission, which is in charge of Taiwan’s banking, insurance and securities industries.
Koo is a well-known lawyer with close connections to the ruling party.
His appointment comes as President Tsai Ing-wen appointed William Lai, mayor of its southern city of Tainan, as premier, as she moved to shore up declining public support. [ nL4N1LM1SM]
