UK employers and unions call on May to avert Brexit emergency

LONDON, March 21 (Reuters) - A group representing British employers and the country’s main trade union umbrella group jointly called on Prime Minister Theresa May to change her approach to Brexit and said the risk of a major hit to the economy had grown.

“Our country is facing a national emergency. Decisions of recent days have caused the risk of no deal to soar,” the Confederation of British Industry and the Trades Union Congress said in a joint letter to May.

“Firms and communities across the UK are not ready for this outcome. The shock to our economy would be felt by generations to come.” (Reporting by Kate Holton Writing by William Schomberg)
