MILAN, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Investment fund Amber Capital raised its stake in Italy’s Caltagirone Editore at the end of August and now owns nearly 10 percent of the publisher, a source close to the matter said on Monday.
Amber Capital held 5.5 percent in the Rome-based group as of August 24, Italian market watchdog said on Sept. 1.
Chiara Finanziaria launched a takeover bid on Caltagirone Editore at 1 euro per share with the aim of de-listing the publisher.
On Friday it increased the bid price to 1.22 euros and extended the takeover bid to Sept 18.
Shares in Caltagirone Editore rose 4.03 percent on Monday to 1.342 euros, above the revised bid price. (Reporting by Elisa Anzolin; editing by Luca Trogni)
