RPT-Canada's economy grows 4.5 pct annualized in second quarter

    OTTAWA, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Canada's economy grew at an
annualized rate of 4.5 percent in the second quarter on the
strength of household expenditure and goods exports, Statistics
Canada said on Thursday.
    Economic growth continued to outpace the United States,
which grew at 3.0 percent in the same quarter. Growth in both
goods-producing and service-producing industries helped push
June's GDP growth up by 0.3 percent.
  Following are seasonally adjusted figures for gross domestic
product, in percent. With the exception of the price index data,
they are adjusted for inflation.

  NOTE: The median forecast of analysts in a Reuters poll was
for 3.7 percent annualized growth in the quarter and June GDP
growth of 0.1 percent.
