Canada's Morneau: watching for stress on consumers from rate hikes

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morneau said on Tuesday that he was watching carefully for any stresses that higher interest rates may put on indebted households.

Speaking to reporters as the Liberal government’s cabinet holds a two-day retreat, Morneau also said he had “nothing to report” when asked about further government measures to cool the country’s housing market.
