Capita awarded UK defence ministry contract, beating Serco, union says

EDINBURGH, June 18 (Reuters) - British outsourcer Capita has been awarded a British Ministry of Defence contract to provide defence workers and firefighters, beating rival Serco , union Unite said on Monday.

Capita, which is undergoing a large scale restructuring, was not immediately available to comment.

The union described the government’s decision in the wake of the collapse of rival Carillion earlier this year as “wrong-headed and alarming”.
