Chesapeake studying LNG export facility investment

HOUSTON, Aug 1 (Reuters) - The chief executive of Chesapeake Energy Corp (CHK.N) on Friday said his company was looking at ways to invest in U.S. export facilities for liquefied natural gas.

“I’m trying to figure out a way to get it on a boat and get it to overseas markets as well,” Chesapeake CEO Aubrey McClendon told analysts on a conference call to discuss the company’s second-quarter earnings.

Natural gas in global markets can fetch double the amount for which it sells in the United States, McClendon noted. (Reporting by Anna Driver, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
