China Quarterly says publisher to repost articles taken down in China

LONDON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The academic journal China Quarterly said on Monday its publisher had decided to repost articles removed from its website in China following an outcry over academic freedoms.

Cambridge University Press (CUP) said late last week it had removed some 300 papers and book reviews published in the journal from its website in China following a request from the Chinese government.

“As editor, I would like to express my support for CUP’s decision to repost the articles,” editor Tim Pringle said in a statement posted on Twitter. (Reporting by Kate Holton and Fanny Potkin; Editing by Robin Pomeroy)
