China's March PPI up 0.4 pct y/y, CPI up 2.3 pct y/y

BEIJING, April 11 (Reuters) - China’s producer price index (PPI) in March rose 0.4 percent from a year earlier, picking up from a 0.1 percent increase in February, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Thursday.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected the producer inflation rate would edge up 0.4 percent, driven by higher commodity prices.

The consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.3 percent from a year earlier, more than the 1.5 percent increase in February but slightly less than market expectations for a 2.4 percent rise. (Reporting by Beijing Monitoring Desk; Editing by Kim Coghill)
