China energy authority urges stable power for Congress meeting

BEIJING, Sept 7 (Reuters) - China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) said on Thursday it has asked utility companies to ensure stable electricity supplies ahead of an important Community Party meeting in October.

“There are weakness in electricity production. We hope they will be fully prepared for the event,” Liu Baohua, deputy head of the administration said, referring to utility companies.

“It is an important political task for the power industry to provide abundant supply for the country.”

The NEA has also urged power companies to carry out safety checks and increase security of internet and information system.

The party congress is held every five years.
