China aluminium firm Zhongwang seeks legal advice after U.S. tariff allegations

BEIJING, Aug 4 (Reuters) - China Zhongwang Holdings said on Sunday it was seeking legal advice after the company and its controlling shareholder, Liu Zhongtian, were accused of evading $1.8 billion of tariffs by smuggling aluminium into the United States.

In a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange, Zhongwang reiterated that neither it nor Liu had been served with any notice in relation to the legal proceedings, which the company’s board believes has so far had no material impact on its operations or finances.
