Aug 13 (Reuters) - Natural gas provider Clean Energy Fuels Corp (CLNE.O) reported narrower-than-expected second-quarter loss, helped by mark-to-market derivative gains on certain futures contracts.
Net loss for the quarter was $2.4 million, or 5 cents a share, compared with a loss of $3.6 million, or 9 cents a share, last year.
Excluding special items, the company posted a loss of 12 cents a share. The items include some futures contract adjustments.
Revenue rose about 13 percent to $34.6 million.
Analysts on average had expected a loss of 13 cents a share, excluding special items, on revenue of $34.0 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
Shares of the company rose as much as 2 percent in after-hours trading. They closed up 3 percent at $14.70 in regular trading Wednesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Adveith Nair in Bangalore; Editing by Gopakumar Warrier)
