Continental Resources first-quarter profit spikes on rising oil prices

HOUSTON, May 2 (Reuters) - U.S. shale oil producer Continental Resources Inc said on Wednesday its quarterly profit spiked thanks in part to rising oil prices and production.

The company posted net income of $233.9 million, or 63 cents per share, compared with $469,000 in the year-ago quarter.

Production rose 35 percent to 287,410 barrels of oil equivalent per day. (Reporting by Ernest Scheyder; Editing by Lisa Shumaker)
