Aug 11 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 2000 GMT on Tuesday: ** British life insurer Prudential said it planned to spin off its U.S. business Jackson to focus on Africa and its largest market Asia, responding to investor pressure for a split.
** Aurubis AG, Europe’s biggest copper producer, is making progress in its talks to sell its flat rolled products division despite the coronavirus crisis, the company said.
** French media group Vivendi has asked to meet top executives at Mediaset to start talks over a possible deal to end a long-running row with the Italian broadcaster, three sources with knowledge of the matter said.
** Italian eyewear tycoon Leonardo Del Vecchio is planning to raise his stake in financial group Mediobanca to 13%-14% after he receives approval from the European Central Bank later this month, two Italian dailies reported.
** Lebanon’s Blom Bank said it was looking to sell its subsidiary Blom Bank Egypt, and that the Egyptian central bank had given approval to begin the due diligence process.
** Shares in Banco BPM surged on expectations that Italy’s third-largest bank could become involved in a possible merger in a new round of consolidation among the country’s banks following Intesa Sanpaolo’s takeover of smaller rival UBI Banca.
** I Squared Capital is planning an auction to sell power firm Energia Group later this year, with the infrastructure fund aiming to secure a valuation of around 2 billion euros ($2.35 billion) including debt, sources familiar with the matter said.
** Hong Kong building services firm Analogue Holdings Ltd said it will sell 2% of New York-based Transel Elevator & Electric, cutting the 51% stake it agreed to buy only a few months ago to 49%, citing U.S. legal advice amid growing tensions between China and the United States.
** India’s B9 Beverages, maker of popular craft beer Bira, is in talks with international brewers and investors to sell a stake of up to 20% in the company, its chief executive told Reuters.
** Bayer moved to acquire a prospective non-hormonal menopause relief for an initial $425 million to strengthen its women’s healthcare business, in a challenge to a similar development venture at Astellas.
