Direct Line reports 5.8 pct fall in qtrly gross written premium

Nov 6 (Reuters) - Britain’s largest motor insurer Direct Line Insurance Group reported a 5.8 percent drop in quarterly gross written premiums on Tuesday, hurt by lower average premiums for motor insurance policies and increased competition.

Direct Line said gross written premiums fell to 854.5 million pounds ($1.12 billion), in the three months ended Sept. 30, from 907.2 million pounds reported last year, and stuck to its 2018 and medium-term financial targets.
