Merkel says Egypt change must be peaceful

MUNICH, Feb 5 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Saturday that outsiders were right to side with pro-democracy demonstrators in Egypt but political change there had to be peaceful and orderly.

“There will be a change in Egypt ... but it needs to be change in such a way that it is peaceful and orderly,” she told a security conference. Referring to demonstrators demanding the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak, she said the rest of the world would be remiss “if we were not siding with these people.” (Reporting by William Maclean, Editing by David Stamp)
