Oil trader Mercuria moves into power, gas, coal

LONDON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Mercuria is to set up a gas, power, emissions and coal trading team, the Geneva-based oil trading group said on Wednesday.

Mercuria has hired Bart Pycke, David Fabri and Kris Waumans, who were previously head of trading, head of gas trading and head of power trading respectively at Electrabel, the Belgian power company.

Mercuria has already hired six traders for the new trading business.

Mercuria Energy Trading is a subsidiary of Mercuria Energy Group, which has been built up into an international business by oil traders Daniel Jaeggi and Marco Dunand, who joined the firm in 2004.

Mercuria’s turnover last year was $20 billion.
