U.S. agency to fund Mesa Biotech's coronavirus diagnostic test

March 18 (Reuters) - The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) said on Wednesday it will provide technical expertise and funding to Mesa Biotech Inc for the development of its diagnostic test for the coronavirus.

The Accula COVID-19 diagnostic test requires minimal sample handling, and a 30-minute sample-to-result time, according to the U.S. agency.

BARDA will give $561,330 to the privately owned Mesa and the company can then seek U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization for the test within two months.
