Romanian Petrescu named coach of Russian club Kuban

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Former Romania and Chelsea defender Dan Petrescu has been appointed coach of Russian second division side Kuban Krasnodar, the club said on Wednesday.

Kuban said on their website (www.fckuban.ru) that the 42-year-old Romanian had replaced caretaker manager Pogos Galstyan after signing a five-year-contract with the club from the Black Sea region.

Petrescu, who surprisingly quit Romanian champions Unirea Urziceni last week after guiding them into the last 32 of the Europa League, will earn 1.5 million euros ($2.16 million) per season at Kuban, according to local media.
