Ex-Baltimore mayor pleads guilty to federal charges related to book sales

Nov 21 (Reuters) - Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges including conspiracy to commit fraud and tax evasion related to sales of her self-published “Healthy Holly” children’s book.

Pugh pleaded not guilty to wire fraud charges.

Federal prosecutors on Wednesday charged Pugh with wire fraud and tax evasion relating to sales of the book to a charity where she served on the board and allegedly using proceeds to fund straw donations to her mayoral election campaign and toward the purchase and renovation of a house.
