UPDATE 1-Canada to invite consultation on telecom investment

TORONTO, June 7 (Reuters) - Canada will release a consultation paper on encouraging more foreign direct investment in the telecommunications sector in the next few days, Industry Minister Tony Clement said on Monday.

The paper will set forth three options for reform of the sector, Clement said without elaborating on the nature of the options.

Speaking at an industry event in Toronto, Clement said the reform options will not involve changes to rules governing Canadian broadcasting but will focus on the telecom sector.

Canada's telecom sector is currently dominated by three companies: Rogers Communications RCIb.TO, Telus Corp T.TO and BCE Inc BCE.TO. (Reporting by Frank McGurty; Editing by Derek Caney)
