Indonesia's Luhut Pandjaitan to retain cabinet post overseeing mining

JAKARTA, Oct 22 (Reuters) - Indonesian politician Luhut Pandjaitan said on Tuesday President Joko Widodo had asked him to stay on as a coordinating minister in the cabinet for a second term in office overseeing resources and investment.

After a meeting with the president, Pandjaitan told reporters he would retain his position as coordinating minister overseeing maritime affairs, which include mineral resources, and also oversee investment.

He said Widodo had asked him to continue Indonesia’s efforts to move its nickel mining sector downstream, as well as improve investment in the petrochemical sector. (Reporting by Maikel Jefriando Writing by Fransiska Nangoy Editing by Ed Davies)
