ECONOMY

Assogestioni expected to release March fund flows data. (*) A cabinet meeting scheduled on Thursday will discuss the long-term government budget plan, Il Sole 24 Ore reported.

DEBT

Treasury sells 6.0 billion euros in 6-month BOT bills. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

COMPANIES (*) ENEL

The board of Eletropaulo, Brazil’s largest power distribution firm, on Wednesday canceled its plans for a follow-on share offer, hours after Italian energy company Enel SpA ENEI.MI raised its takeover offer, according to securities filings.

Enel has raised its offer to buy Eletropaulo shares to 32 reais. The offer is only valid if Eletropaulo cancels plans for a follow-on share offering.

(*) TOD’S

Private equity firms have sounded out Tod’s about the possibility to buy its brand Fay, Il Sole 24 Ore said citing Dealreporter. Potential suitors have valued the brand at around 20 times its EBITDA, the newspaper said, adding Tod’s has ruled out a sale.

(*) CREVAL, POPOLARE DI SONDRIO

The bank could study a partnership that could lead to a merger with a rival, Creval Chairman Miro Fiordi told Il Sole 24 Ore on Thursday. Fiordi added the bank was looking at developments at rival Banca Popolare di Sondrio without elaborating. Creval expects to get regulator approval of internal risk models by September, the chairman said.

ENI

Eni executive Roberto Casula has taken a leave of absence from the Italian oil major, a company spokesman said on Wednesday without giving any reason for the decision.

Eni will not relinquish its interests in Cyprus, its CEO said on Wednesday, as an uneasy standoff between Turkey and the Mediterranean island lingered over offshore hydrocarbons resources.

ALITALIA

A cabinet meeting has been called Thursday to approve a delay in the sales process of flagship carrier Alitalia and the repayment of a bridge loan, two government sources said on Wednesday.
