Italy - Factors to watch on Dec. 21

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Friday.

POLITICS

When Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte rose to his feet in parliament on Wednesday to announce his budget accord with Europe, the normally ever-present heads of his government’s two coalition parties were nowhere to be seen.

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases December consumer and business confidence data (0900 GMT) and November non-EU foreign trade data (1000 GMT).

DEBT

Italy’s Treasury said on Thursday it would offer new three-year and 10-year BTP bonds and a new CCTeu certificate in the first quarter of next year.

Treasury announces sale of BTP and CCTeu bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on Dec. 28.

ATLANTIA

Italy’s Autostrade has received a letter from the transport ministry asking to provide further explanations on a deadly bridge collapse within 120 days, the motorway operator said on Thursday.

GENERALI, UNIPOL, INTESA SANPAOLO

Italian insurance companies passed the stress tests launched earlier this year by European insurance regulator EIOPA, Italian insurance association said on Thursday, confirming what Italy’s insurance regulator previously said.

ENI, ENEL, LEONARDO, POSTE ITALIANE

The government has a plan to transfer its stakes in the main state-controlled companies like Eni, Enel and Leonardo to state lender CDP to reach its 2019 privatisation target of 18 billion euros, Corriere della Sera said.

(*) BANCA CARIGE

Vittorio Malacalza, the bank’s main shareholder, may not agree with the capital increase the board is planning, abstaining from saturday’s shareholder meeting to vote the cash call or even voting against, Il Sole 24 Ore said.

(*) UNIPOL

The insurer has hired Mediobanca as well as Credit Suisse as advisers for a possible tie-up of its Unipol Baca unit with lender BPER, Il Sole 24 Ore said.

(*) SALINI IMPREGILO, ASTALDI

The creation of an industrial pole aimed at safeguarding the ailing building sector led by Salini and involving state lender CDP, the government and creditor banks is under way, Corriere della Sera said. The rescue of Astaldi and Condotte are part of the plan, it said.

(*) TELECOM ITALIA

The board meets on Friday. La Repubblica said it will discuss a request to call a shareholder meeting to remove 5 board members and separate its backbone network.

SAIPEM

Saipem said on Thursday it had been awarded $255 million onshore and offshore drilling contracts.

(*) MONDADORI

The agreement to sell Mondadori France to Reworld Media should be signed by the end of January, Il Sole 24 Ore said.

GAMENET

Italy’s Gamenet said on Thursday it expected a negative impact of 15-20 million euros on 2019 EBITDA from increases in gaming taxes in Italy.

CREVAL

The lender said on Thursday that a reorganization of its insurance business would have a positive impact on its fully-loaded CET1 ratio of roughly 45 basis points.

Clabo holds board meeting on Q3 results.

CDR ADVANCE CAPITAL

CDR Advance Capital holds extraordinary (0830 GMT), special category B share holders (0930 GMT), warrant holders’ meetings (1000 GMT).

ABITARE

Abitare In holds board meeting on FY results (closed on Sept. 30).

BORGOSESIA

Borgosesia holds extraordinary shareholders’ meeting (1030 GMT).
