ECONOMY

ISTAT releases December non-EU foreign trade (0900 GMT).

DEBT

Italy’s Treasury announces sale of 6-month BOT bills, with relative amounts to be auctioned on Jan. 29.

The Treasury said on Thursday it would offer up to 3.25 billion euros ($3.61 billion) of a zero-coupon CTZ bond and an inflation-linked BTPei bond at an auction on Jan. 28.

COMPANIES (*) ATLANTIA

In an interview in La Stampa the new CEO Carlo Bertazzo said he wants to turn the group into a strategic holding company, opening up the capital of its units to investors. He said the group did not exclude selling a majority in some cases.

The option of spinning off the group’s motorway unit Autostrade has reemerged, Il Sole 24 Ore said, adding politicians and potential investors had warmed to the idea.

ENI

Italian tax police searched the Milan offices of three managers at Eni on Thursday to widen an investigation into suspected obstruction of justice by officials at the Italian oil group, two sources said.

FIAT CHRYSLER

U.S. regulator said it will review part of a recommendation made last fall that India’s Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd infringed upon the intellectual property rights of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Jeep SUV design.

Asked about being involved in an operation regarding the motorway concessions of Atlantia were they to be revoked by the government, Salini CEO told Il Corriere della Sera “concessions are not part of our business”.

The CEO of STM said in an interview in Il Sole 24 Ore the group would perform better than the market this year when it will invest $1.5 billion.

The next board meeting of the bank should start the process to have its shares readmitted to the stock market with a view to have them trading by May, MF said.
