Italy - Factors to watch on July 29

DEBT

Treasury sells 6.5 billion 6-month BOT bills. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

ENI

The Italian oil major’s chief executive, Claudio Descalzi, told Corriere Sera daily on Monday he is totally confident that a Milan trial, in which Eni is accused of acquiring a Nigerian oilfield in 2011 by corruptly paying middlemen, will prove his and Eni’s innocence.

FINCANTIERI

In an interview with Corriere della Sera on Saturday, Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono threatened to resign if the government does not approve a joint venture with France’s Naval Group in military shipbuilding.

In the interview Bono criticised the European Antitrust for being slow and blocking the creation of European industrial champions. He said, however, he expected Brussels to approve Fincantieri’s acquisition of France’s Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

A2A, IREN

Creditor banks that own Sorgenia will shortlist investors interested in buying the Italian energy company by the end of July, the CEO of Sorgenia told Corriere della Sera on Sunday. Italian utilities A2A and IREN are among prospective buyers for Sorgenia.

ATLANTIA, ALITALIA

A draft plan for the re-launch of Alitalia envisages the carrier to break-even 2021. The airline is expected to swing back to profit in 2022, Il Messaggero reported on Sunday.

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM), INWIT

Italy’s biggest phone group and rival Vodafone agreed on Friday to merge their mobile tower infrastructure and to jointly roll out 5G in Italy.

BANCA CARIGE

State-owned bank Credito Sportivo will underwrite 20 million euros out of a 200 million euros convertible bonds, which will be issued by Banca Carige as part of its rescue plan, a source with knowledge of the matter said on Friday.

Italy’s depositor protection fund and Cassa Centrale Banca are expected to reach a final agreement for the rescue of Carige on July 30, Il Messaggero said on Saturday adding the European Central Bank so far has not opposed the plan.

Cassa Centrale Banca will have a call option to buy 90% Carige from Italy’s depositor protection fund in the next 18 months with a discount of 50 percent over the stock price, Milano Finanza said on Saturday. The daily also said that the Malacalza family, Carige’s top shareholder, had still to decide whether to buy into the lender’s rights issue.

TENARIS

Shareholders’ meeting on delisting from Argentina’s stock exchange (0900 GMT).

BREMBO

Ordinary shareholders’ meeting (0700 GMT) and board meeting on H1 results (0730 GMT) followed by conference call (1200 GMT).

PIQUADRO

Trades ex-dividend of 0.08 euro per share.

Board meetings on H1 results: ITALGAS (press release on July 30), ANIMA, INWIT followed by conference call, CALTAGIRONE EDITORE, CIR (0800 GMT), COFIDE (1300 GMT), MOLMED, NEXI .
