Italy - Factors to watch on July 31

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases June employment rate data (0800 GMT), flash July CPI and HICP data (0900 GMT), flash Q2 GDP data (1000 GMT).

POSTE ITALIANE

The Italian post office on Wednesday confirmed its full-year targets and said it would start paying an interim dividend after reporting a 30% rise in second-quarter net profit on a 5% rise in revenues.

Conference call on H1 results (0930 GMT)

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

Sales at Italy’s luxury group rose for the second quarter in a row in the three months to June, confirming a recovery trend seen in the first part of the year.

LEONARDO

The Italian defence group confirmed its full-year guidance on Tuesday as it reported a 34% increase in orders to 6.1 billion euros ($6.8 billion) in the first half.

SALINI IMPREGILO, ASTALDI

The role of French bank Natixis is presenting a hurdle to efforts by Salini Impregilo to create an Italian construction champion, two sources close to the matter said.

Salini reported an increase in adjusted revenues of 3.7 % in the first half of the year to 2.7 billion euros, with record new orders of 6.1 billion euros for the first 7 months of 2019.

(*) The group is ready to convene an extraordinary board meeting within 24 hours if an agreement is reached on Wednesday to create an Italian construction champion by taking over troubled rival Astaldi, Il Sole 24 Ore reported.

TELECOM ITALIA

Brazilian subsidiary TIM Participacoes SA posted on Tuesday a 26% rise in second-quarter net profit compared with the same period a year before when adjusted for one-off factors, beating market expectations.

Atlantia’s co-investors in Abertis, ACS and Hochtief, over the past year have exercised at least twice their veto power to block internal moves aimed at achieving synergies following their joint takeover of the Spanish builder, Il Sole 24 Ore reported.

ESSILORLUXOTTICA

The French-Italian eyewear group said it would buy a 76.72% stake in Dutch optical retailer GrandVision, and the company also posted stronger second-quarter results and confirmed its 2019 targets on Wednesday.

The two regional utilities said late on Tuesday they had signed an accord to swap assets as they reorganise their respective gas businesses, and also set up a joint-venture that will manage more than 1 million gas and power contracts in north-east Italy.

Moody’s said late on Tuesday it had confirmed the bank’s ratings, improving the outlook on UBI’s ‘Baa3’ senior unsecured debt ratings to ‘stable’.
