POLITICS

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte threatened on Monday to resign, telling his two coalition partners to end their constant feuding or seek new elections. (*) Italy’s ruling 5-Star Movement wants the coalition government to survive and is ready to back two measures which are a top priority for coalition partner the League, 5-Star leader Luigi Di Maio said in a newspaper interview on Tuesday.

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases April employment rate data (0800 GMT).

COMPANIES (*) BPER, CARIGE

BPER Banca has been looking into a possible acquisition of Banca Carige since last week, MF daily reported, adding that the assessment was still at a preliminary stage. BPER was not immediately available to comment on the report.

Italy’s sixth-largest bank called a shareholder meeting on July 4 to approve an up to 171.7 million euro capital increase and a 150 million euro convertible AT1 bond both reserved to Fondazione di Sardegna.

(*) TELECOM ITALIA

Italian telecoms watchdog AGCOM is not prepared to give Telecom Italia any incentive to a potential spin-off of its fixed-line network, Il Sole 24 Ore reported, adding that a plan for the spin-off prepared by former CEO Amos Genish would likely be shelved by the company before the summer break.

FIAT CHRYSLER

Talks on Fiat Chrysler’s proposed merger with Renault became mired in politics on Monday, as France sought more concessions to maintain government influence over the new carmaker’s management and French assets, sources told Reuters.

The board of Renault meets on Tuesday to discuss Fiat Chrysler’s merger offer.

New car sales in Italy fell 1.19% in May compared to a year earlier, with FCA’s market share totalling 29.8 percent.

The Italian caterer expects to grow revenues on average by between 4.5-5 percent a year in 2018-2021 to reach 5.3 billion euros at the end of the period.

The company holds a ‘Capital Markets Day’, followed by news conference with CEO Gianmario Tondato Da Ruos (1115 GMT).

TELECOM ITALIA

Italy’s phone group CFO Giovanni Ronca has purchased 150,000 ordinary shares of the company, a filing showed on Monday.

ENEL

Italy’s biggest utility said on Monday that, effective July 1, Enrico Viale will become Head of the North America region, including US, Canada and Mexico, leaving his current post as Head of the Global Thermal Generation business line.

(*) ALITALIA

Alitalia has still 460 million euro in cash, Stefano Paleari, one of the carrier’s administrators, was quoted as saying on Monday by Il Sole 24 Ore. The cash will last one year, Paleari added.

DIARY

Turin, first of two-day “Clear Air Dialogue” between Italia and the European Commission (0800 GMT).
