Italy - Factors to watch on Oct. 30

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday.

POLITICS (*) An early retirement option will start in February, League’s official Armando Siri told Il Corriere, adding it could take longer to launch a planned “citizens’ wage” income support scheme.

If two pillars of the Italian government’s 2019 budget prove less costly than envisaged, the savings may be used to reduce the budget deficit, a government source said, a message that may be welcomed by the European Commission.

ECONOMY

Treasury sells 0.5-1.0 billion euros CCTeu bonds due Sept. 15, 2025; 1.5-2.0 billion euros 2.45 percent BTP bonds due Oct. 1, 2023; 2.0-2.5 billion euros 2.8 percent BTP bonds due Dec. 1, 2028. Subscriptions close at 1000 GMT.

COMPANIES

TELECOM ITALIA (*) Regulatory changes in Italy could pave the way to a merger with broadband company Open Fiber, Telecom Italia (TIM) Chief Executive Amos Genish told the Financial Times on Tuesday. (*) The board meeting scheduled for Tuesday will not discuss the sale of Sparkle and Persidera units, Il Sole 24 Ore said.

Telecom Italia could pick U.S. fund I Squared Capital as preferred bidder in the sale of its stake in broadcasting unit Persidera at a board meeting on Tuesday, three sources familiar with the matter said.

(*) ENI, LENOARDO

Several Italian newspapers said that both Eni and Leonardo could take a role in the new plan for airline carrier Alitalia. Eni has denied to be involved in it, La Repubblica said.

(*) BPER

The unveiling of the bank’s new business plan could take longer than expected, Il Sole 24 Ore reported, adding the plan could be presented in mid-December or at the beginning of February.

(*) MEDIOBANCA

Investment fund BlackRock has a stake of more than 5 percent in investment bank Mediobanca, MF reported.

(*) ATLANTIA

A recent rise in interest rates did not increased the cost of funding for the deal on Abertis, Atlantia CEO Giovanni Castelucci told Il Corriere della Sera. Castellucci also said there are no news over a possible revocation of Autostrade’s motorway concession.

(*) IPO

Italy’s Garofalo Health Care said late on Monday it had filed a request to list on the Milan bourse. It set a preliminary range price of 3.34-3.67 euros per share for its initial public offering.

MEDIASET

Mediaset said exclusion of a trust holding part of Vivendi’s shares in the broadcaster from a shareholder meeting was taken by the board.

CERVED

Cerved Group said 9-Mth adj. net profit was up at 72.0 million euros. In slides the company said adjusted EBITDA at the end of the year should be in line with or slightly lower than consensus.
