Atlantia to launch audit on alleged falsification of reports on viaduct safety

MILAN, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Italy’s Atlantia said on Friday it would launch an audit to assess whether internal procedures were followed properly after employees at two of its units were arrested over allegations that safety reports on some viaducts were falsified.

Three employees of companies owned by the infrastructure group were placed under house arrest earlier on Friday as part of an investigation related to the collapse of a motorway bridge in Genoa.

The collapse of the Genoa viaduct, operated by Atlantia-controlled Autrostrade per l’Italia, in August last year killed 43 people.
