Daiwa Asset gets approval to list Japan's first ESG funds

TOKYO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Daiwa Asset Management Co received approval to list three socially responsible exchange-traded funds, the first of their kind in Japan, a filing showed on Friday.

Daiwa Asset created Daiwa ETF MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, Daiwa ETF FTSE Blossom Japan Index and Daiwa ETF MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index, which will track the socially responsible ETFs — also known as ESG, or environmental, social, governance — that Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) adopted in July.
