Takeaway reports core profit in 2019, revenues up 79%

AMSTERDAM, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Just Eat NV, the Dutch-based online food ordering service, on Thursday reported strong growth and a small core profit for 2019, the last year before its takeover of larger British peer Just Eat PLC transforms its profile.

Takeaway, which declared its $7.8 billion takeover of Just Eat unconditional in January, said it had earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 12.3 million euros ($13.4 million) in 2019, up from a loss of 11.3 million euros in 2018..

Takeaway’s 2019 net revenues surged 79% to 415.9 million euros, fuelled by growth and an earlier acquisition, its 930 million euro buy of Delivery Hero’s German operations in April.

Takeaway is awaiting final approval of its Just Eat buy from Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). ($1=0.9199 euros) (Reporting by Toby Sterling; Editing by Clarence Fernandez)
