Kenyan shilling strengthens against the dollar

NAIROBI, May 5 (Reuters) - The Kenyan shilling
strengthened on Tuesday as commercial banks sold off weak
dollars, traders said.
At 0837 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at
106.35/55 per dollar, compared with 106.60/80 at Monday's close.
Banks had previously anticipated stronger dollar demand from
oil and merchant importers.
But with demand subdued, those with long positions have
begun to sell off, said a senior trader from one commercial
bank.
